Portland Story Theater's stories may contain "colorful" language, sexual escapades of a questionable nature and numerous examples of extremely poor judgment, along with profound insights, deep revelations and moments of truth, triumph and transformation.

Hood River Here We Come!
Urban Tellers Invitational, Saturday, September 27th

2014 marks the 10th anniversary of Portland Story Theater and over the years, we have perfected an approach to storytelling as solo performance art that is filling a niche. On September 27th, the good people of Hood River will have a chance to experience this amazing art form with the Urban Tellers Invitational. The two-hour production will take place at the beautiful Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River. Doors open at 6:30PM and the show starts at 7:30PM

"Whenever I listen to someone's personal story, I start to see myself and feel like I'm walking in their shoes through their story."

This Urban Tellers Invitational is a special show that not only features outstanding storytellers who have worked with Portland Story Theater before, like
Leigh Hancock of White Salmon, Kriya Kaping, and Eric Stern, but also features the founders: Lawrence Howard, Lynne Duddy, and Penny Walter.

"Portland Story Theater is the local leader in the resurgence of this ageless performance form - a single person spinning a yarn, holding a roomful of listeners rapt." The Oregonian

"The focus is on the story. It just feels pure and intentional and to the point." Angie Martorana, Designer

Everyone has a story...

What's Yours?

Our workshop, The Art of Personal Narrative is coming to Hood River and it gives people, just like you, the chance to discover your personal narrative in a safe, supportive environment. Starting Sunday afternoon, October 5th, this workshop will be held at the Columbia Center for the Arts. You will learn how to use the art form of storytelling to create a new narrative for your self. In telling a real, true story, you can tap into your own wisdom to inspire, transform and create new connections, within yourself and with others. [Find out more...]
