Will Hornyak -- PST's Solo Performance Festival, Singlehandedly

Will Hornyak

From Chinese fables and Native American myths to Mexican folk tales, Russian fairytales and original material, Will Hornyak performs throughout the Northwest and beyond. He teaches storytelling in professional communication at Marylhurst University and was named Artist of the Year by Young Audiences of Oregon in 2004. He just wrapped up his solo show, The Bawdy Raconteur: Classic Ribald Tales, to sold out audiences.

The Myth of the White Stag: The Hunt for Identity and Place
Will believes that our personal stories are tied in with the oldest myths of our ancestors. When he came across the story of the White Stag, a legend of how the Magyar people found their homeland, it helped him to understand his own search for home, identity and community. This story has been a trusted companion of his for 15 years, although not as a story for performance until now. The White Stag has continually reminded Will of the intelligence and wisdom in the bones, blood, myths and dreams of my ancestors. He has tried to pay homage to them and to this tribal tale, and weave in a few of his own threads. It will be presented on Friday May 8th and Saturday May 9th as part of PST's Solo Performance Festival, Singlehandedly.
