Lawrence Howard -- PST's Solo Performance Festival, Singlehandedly

Lawrence Howard

From the heroes of Celtic myth to the wise men and fools of Yiddish folklore, Lawrence takes us on a journey through the rich landscape of story. One of the original co-founders of Portland Story Theater, he creates personal stories that really resonate with adult audiences. His sold-out solo show, Shackleton's Antarctic Nightmare, has just been released on audio CD. He has just finished the next installment of the Armchair Adventurer series: the little-known story of Douglas Mawson and the Australian Antarctic Expedition of 1911. Mawson's Mettle: Alone On The Wide Shores Of The World premiered January, 2010 as part of Portland's Fertile Ground Festival. Lawrence is originally from New York but has lived in the Pacific Northwest most of his adult life. He has a keen fascination for Antarctica, is a lover of limericks, and enjoys homemade ginger ale. He currently lives in Portland, Oregon. Lawrence is delighted to be performing in Singlehandedly.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Horowitz is all about growing up Jewish in NY. It's about gefilte fish and chopped liver and bagels and lox. It's about fisticuffs on the Hebrew School bus. It's about embarrassing myself at my bar mitzvah. It's about the secret Christmas tree. It's about the Pope and the Rabbi! It's about rejecting and then reclaiming my heritage. It's about the search for identity and belonging.
It's all part of PST's Solo Performance Festival, Singlehandedly!
Catch Lawrence on Opening Night, Friday April 23rd and on Friday May 7th.
