Lawrence knows how to take listeners on a journey through the rich landscape of story. One of the original co-founders of Portland Story Theater, he delivers stories that resonate with adult audiences. Lawrence is originally from New York but has lived in the Pacific Northwest most of his adult life. He has a keen fascination for Antarctica, is a lover of limericks, and enjoys homemade ginger ale. He currently lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife of thirty years, PST co-founder Lynne Duddy.

The Night On The Island

The Night On The Island is a true personal story about surviving a fearsome lightning storm, huddled under a canoe on a tiny island in a huge lake, miles and miles from anything. It's about sharing your spaghetti sandwich with a stranger on the bus. It's about geese flying south and the six grandfathers of the universe and learning how to paddle your own canoe. It's about a young man's quest to find his place in the world.

Created and Performed by Lawrence Howard, The Night On The Island is part of PST's Solo Performance Festival, Singlehandedly!
