The days grow
darker and the cold comes creeping into our bones — as the leaves
fall, as the wind calls in the night, as winter wakes from his
slumber and begins to gnaw at the door.
It is the perfect time for an evening of unsettling stories, stories that seep into your subconscious and into your dreams. Not just any stories, but stories crafted for that perfect moment of surprise when the hair rises on your neck and you feel a sudden chill in the room. All Hallow's Eve is almost upon us and The John Palmer house is the perfect setting for our stories. It's an evening of unsettling and strange occurrences that can't easily be explained... The sounds that haunt you in the night as you lie in bed, awakened by a dream... We have a whole new set of stories for Spellbound that you can hear but only on two evenings this October: the Friday and Saturday leading up to Halloween. These are very special stories that require a certain time, a certain place. This year features a fantastic lineup of narrative artists: Lawrence Howard, Lynne Duddy, Tamara Lynne, Jeff Burke, and Mary Welch. Space is very, very limited. If you are reading this, then you are getting the first chance to secure tickets. Tickets are general seating and offered on a sliding scale ($35-$200) with a minimum of $35 each. All proceeds will go to help fund the work of Portland Story Theater.
This
promises to be a remarkable experience for the season, and it may
be exactly what you need to remind yourself of the ancient power
this holiday has over the hearts of men. We hope that you will
consider joining us.
